I'm a software architect and hands-on developer with more than 25 years of experience building software. I've worked on everything from financial applications and mobile products to distributed peer-to-peer systems and AI-powered applications.
I enjoy working on technically challenging products where architecture and implementation go hand in hand. I'm particularly interested in improving existing systems: understanding where complexity comes from, simplifying architecture, modernizing technology, and making the codebase easier to work with without stopping ongoing product development.
I also like working beyond the purely technical side of a project. I work closely with product owners and customers, ask a lot of questions, and enjoy figuring out what is worth building as much as how to build it.
My work has typically involved designing software systems while staying deeply involved in hands-on development. I've designed new systems, modernized existing ones, led technical work in development teams, and worked closely with customers and product owners.
More recently, my work has included practical applications of LLMs, agents, and MCP, both in software products and in improving how developers work.
Git Fixup: A VS Code extension I built to make working with Git fixup commits simpler and help keep commit histories clean.
I originally built Git Fixup because I needed it myself, but designed it as a tool that would be useful to other developers as well.
Kannatan.fi: An AI-powered voter advice tool for the 2025 Finnish county and municipal elections, allowing users to explore and compare political parties through conversation rather than a traditional questionnaire.
I designed and built the application together with Jusa Mankki, using the OpenAI ecosystem.
